Alexander Shorokhov’s fantasy to honour the inspiration of the artistic and unique works of Gustav Klimt in his watches has now become a reality. This watch is the first model made exclusively for the 30th anniversary of the Bavarian based watch manufacture.
Different sized ‘eyes’, in very different colours, are the main concept of the dial’s composition. They are slightly raised from the dial and transmit a sense of joy, enthusiasm and mobility, literally dancing on the scene of the shiny dial. The chronograph hands are also designed in the form of cheerful multicoloured ‘eyes’. The hour markers have monochrome yellow gold-plated small and cold-looking eyes – Crazy Eyes!
The other elements of the dial, with their special shape and colours, complement the whole composition of the ‘AS – movement’, which were a challenge to put together. This was because the dial consists of several layers, many different applications and different materials such as mother of pearl, brass and several colours. In the end everything comes together in harmony and evokes a cheerful and positive emotion.
The movement used is the robust and reliable Poljot caliber 3133, which is partially skeletonised, hand-engraved and refined in the watch manufactory. It is based on the Swiss Valjoux 7734 movement (now discontinued) and was produced at the first Moscow Watch Factory from 1976 to 2004. Additionally, this chronograph offers a stopwatch with totalising function, which can be activated with the upper pusher. The lower pusher returns the second hand to its original position.
In combination with the avant-garde crazy face, a matching bracelet was created: a stingray leather strap in a striking and bright colour. The case also fits into the warm colour scheme in a variation with a yellow gold-plated case.
The new ‘Crazy Eyes’ art object is a successful and innovative work of art for the wrist, fully in line with the brand’s philosophy. Limited to 30 pieces, its uniqueness and exclusivity is clearly demonstrated.
