Michel Herbelin’s Elegant Inspiration Now With First Moon Phase Complication

Inspired by the first models created in the 1950s by the Michel Herbelin French watchmaking studio, the Inspiration Automatic vies to be the most elegant with its refashioned classicism.

The ultimate city watch, is adorned with a most poetic complication, indicating the moon phase at 6 o’clock, this limited edition of 500 numbered timepieces comes with a hand-applied patina leather strap, thus perfecting the timeless nature of this new ‘Made in France’ timepiece.

“Our ambition is to make beautifully made mechanical timepieces more accessible to as many watch lovers as possible, all while conserving a competitive price-quality ratio.”

Maxime Herbelin, (Founder’s Grandson), Associate Marketing Director

Michel Herbelin’s new watchmaking creation draws one’s gaze to the aperture at 6 o’clock featuring a moon phase indicator. Presented on a lacquered midnight blue disk punctuated with stars in a purposefully minimalist style, it reflects an accurate image of each stage of the moon’s metamorphosis. Very easily adjusted with the fluted spherical crown adorned with a blue spinel cabochon, this watch function is time-regulated by the date aperture at 3 o’clock.

“The Inspiration Automatic Moon Phase is an excellent example. This is the first time that a Michel Herbelin automatic watch has included a moon phase indicator. The “fifties” elegance of this timepiece goes perfectly with this complication.”

Mathieu Herbelin, (Founder’s Grandson), Associate Creative Director

This Inspiration Automatic Moon Phase model features completely polished surfaces and a 40 mm diameter 316L stainless steel case. Prolonged by discreet tapered horns, the round case middle highlights a convex dial encircled with a delicate bezel. Protected by a domed sapphire crystal to accentuate its vintage spirit, the three delicately curved dagger-shaped hands enliven the silvered back that shimmers in the changing light thanks to its brushed sun-ray finish.

This new timepiece has a Swiss-made self-winding mechanical movement with proven reliability: the Sellita SW 280. Incorporating 26 jewels and oscillating at 28,800 beats per hour, it benefits from a 41-hour power reserve. Purists will appreciate the transparent case back revealing the movement’s gears, including the ‘Michel Herbelin’ engraved oscillating weight.
