We recently were introduced to the Solutions Sàrl, a Swiss company located in La Chaux-de-Fonds who are a team with over 35-years of experience, specialising in all services related to the watch industry.
They have created S.Craft (Sapphire Craft) and designed the beautiful ‘Transparency N°1’. Collector’s will be able to secure their timepiece on the 8th September. Their goal was to construct the watch in such a way that the wearer could observe the movement parts and interactions with as unobstructed a view as possible – which we believe has been achieved.
The new timepiece features a solid sapphire 40mm case that has been carefully machined from a single block of sapphire crystal. The aim, of course, is to offer full visual access to the multi-level movement, from all possible angles.
Sapphire (known in mineralogical circles as Corundum) is the third hardest material on Earth and is almost entirely scratch-proof. The process by which it is made into a finished watch case is extraordinarily difficult – creating a case from a block of sapphire is a true technical challenge.
The heart of this watch is the skeletonised self-winding ETA movement 2892-A2, which has a power reserve of approximately 42 hours and is one of the most reliable and trouble-free movements in the industry.
The movement beats at 28,800 BPH (beats per hour) is decorated with blued steel screws. It has extensive skeletonising thus reducing the bridges and main plate to a minimal see-through framework, as has the rotor which is opened like the rest of the movement to allow a clear view of the wheels and pinions interacting.
The movement sits beneath the skeletonised dial displaying the hours with blue indexes and the minutes with blue markers.
