Created by acclaimed French designer and director Ugo Bienvenu, the Arceau Hermès Locomotion watch transforms his vibrant, pop-art reimagining of the iconic Hermès boutique on Faubourg Saint-Honoré into a wearable work of art. Originally conceived for the Hermès Locomotion silk scarf, Bienvenu’s futuristic aesthetic now takes center stage on the dial of one of the Maison’s most artful horological canvases.
First introduced in 1978 by Henri d’Origny, the Arceau watch has become a distinguished platform for Hermès’ métiers d’art, inviting the finest creative expression in form, color, and craftsmanship. In this limited edition, the dial is brought to life through intricate miniature painting — a true testament to the artistry housed within Hermès Horloger.
Each dial is composed of multiple delicate layers of paint. A foundational coat sets the stage for the motif, which emerges with each successive application of hues — pinks, yellows, blues, and greens — chosen from a bespoke palette. A second layer, painted directly beneath the sapphire crystal, creates an immersive, three-dimensional depth akin to a miniature diorama.
At the centre, silver-toned leaf hands glide across the scene, powered by the Hermès Manufacture H1912 self-winding movement. The white gold case, measuring 38 mm in diameter, frames the dial with quiet elegance, while a pale mauve alligator strap echoes the subtle tonalities of the artwork.
