After 20 years of wild creativity, MB&F have created an elegant, time-only, 38mm timepiece, as they launch their new ‘Special Projects’ (SP) Collection.

Alongside the celebrated Horological and Legacy Machines, the brand quietly accumulated a vault of sketches: conceptual orphans, flashes of brilliance ahead of their time. As MB&F approached its 20th anniversary, it returned to this creative archive with a singular question: What if we brought these dormant visions to life?
The result is a bold new collection of singular, category-defying machines. And leading this charge is the inaugural model, Special Project One (SP One)—a timepiece born from the in-between, where radical experimentation meets refined elegance.

Originally dubbed ‘Three Circles’, SP One is MB&F at its most distilled: three levitating elements—barrel, balance wheel, and dial—seemingly suspended in space, performing a kinetic ballet inside a perfectly clear sapphire amphitheatre. Encased in a compact 38mm silhouette with no bezel and ethereal lugs, the watch feels like a smooth river stone—subtle in size, immense in presence.

Though it’s the smallest and slimmest MB&F to date, SP One is no less dimensional. The tilted dial, floating balance at 2 o’clock, and suspended single barrel are designed to mesmerise—each identical in diameter, visually orbiting at the heart of the movement. This visual symmetry is no illusion: the architecture is deliberate, with bridges and components hidden beneath, drawing the eye solely to the ‘stage’.

Collectors will appreciate the nuance—conical gears, invisible supports, and the echo of classical watchmaking elevated into futuristic sculpture. Turn the watch over, and MB&F’s finishing prowess is on full display: hand-made anglage, internal angles, polished bevels, gold chatons, and engraved flourishes—all laid across a canvas of satin-brushed and micro-blasted finishes.

The SP One is not a reimagining. It’s a revelation. A piece that whispers instead of shouts, but leaves an unforgettable impression. A new expression of MB&F’s DNA, it remains true to the founding principle: create what no one else dares to imagine.
