To mark the 90th anniversary of the legendary Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso watch have created the world’s first four-sided watch, the extraordinary Reverso Hybris Mechanica Quadriptyque.
The record breaking timepiece full title – Reverso Hybris Mechanica Caliber 185 Quadriptyque – took six years to develop and will be limited to 10 pieces and will cost an eye-watering $1.35 million.
The flying tourbillon. located at 7 o’clock, the position of the tourbillon creates a triangle with the indications of the perpetual calendar, giving the face a familiar sense of symmetry. Sliding the lever above the crown sets off a melody that tells the time.
The highly complicated [in-house] Caliber 185 incorporates a tourbillon escapement, a perpetual calendar, a minute repeater, a complex celestial and astronomical system that offers three lunar displays on the interior face in the cradle that can predict super-moons and eclipses. The extremely complicated Caliber 185 powering the watch consists of 800 individual components that take about six months to assemble. The entire detailed process required 12 patents.
