Christopher Ward Create Oracle Time C65 Shoreline To Mark 100th Issue

British brand Christopher Ward has created the Oracle Time C65 Dune Shoreline in collaboration with the UK-based wristwatch and luxury publication to mark their 10th anniversary and 100th issue.

The watch is based on the steel C65 Dune Automatic with a diameter of 38mm, height of 11.9mm and water resistance rating of 150m. The field watch design with smooth bezel is neat and the dial features a ripple pattern texture in matte grey designed to be reminiscent of the dynamic, ever-changing ridges of sand in a dune or the ripples of a beach caused by changing tides.

“The ripple dials are produced using a new stamping technique involving a hydraulic press. These brass dials are then given colour and dial text before a clear lacquer is applied.”

Will Brackfield, Designer, Christopher Ward

The inspiration for the design stems from one of Oracle Time’s co-founder’s visit in 2022, to Cerro Blanco in Peru, famous for its dune landscape. Upon returning to the UK, he was struct by the similarities between the landscape in Peru and the dramatic rugged coastline of Britain.

Grey was chosen for the dial colour to represent the overcast skies of Britain’s beaches. Adding a flash of colour to the display is the blue Super-LumiNova BL Grade X1 lime of the hour markers and central hands, representing a glimpse of the blue sky breaking through the clouds.

“We’ve had a longstanding relationship with Oracle Time which spans more than a decade. As a British organisation that have played a key role in sharing our brand story, we take immense pride in our collaboration to craft a bespoke timepiece celebrating their centenary edition.”

Powering the watch is the Sellita SW 200-1 COSC chronometer certified automatic movement with a 38-hour power reserve. It has elaboré grade finishing and features the Christopher Ward twin flagship rotor. There are three strap and bracelet options available – a 3-link bracelet, a grey Vacona leather strap with blue stitching to match the dial and #tide strap.

The watch is a limited edition of 100 pieces, coinciding with the 100th issue of Oracle Time, with priority access to paying subscribers and members.
